Schaumann Feuchtwangen focuses on sustainable energy supply

Power Purchase Agreement signed with Feuchtwangen municipal utilities
H. Wilhelm Schaumann GmbH is taking another significant step towards sustainable corporate management. In a groundbreaking cooperation with Feuchtwangen municipal utilities, Schaumann has concluded a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for its mineral feed factory in Feuchtwangen. This agreement marks the beginning of a long-term, emission-free power supply for the factory.
Under the terms of the PPA, the Schaumann factory will in future be supplied directly with electricity from a newly constructed photovoltaic ground-mounted system (PVF). This system, which has an installed capacity of 1,500 kWp, is expected to go into operation at the end of 2025. By using green electricity from this system, Schaumann Feuchtwangen will be able to sustainably cover a significant portion of its energy requirements. Surplus electricity generated will be fed into the public grid, allowing the region to also benefit from this future-oriented energy source.
This step demonstrates our commitment to minimising our environmental footprint and helping to design a sustainable future. The decision to use our own emission-free power supply is an important milestone on this path. In doing so, we are not only setting the course for more environmentally friendly production, but also strengthening our role as a responsible employer in the region.
The photovoltaic ground-mounted system is being built on land that could not previously be used efficiently due to unfavourable agricultural conditions. By converting this land into a source of renewable energy, both Stadtwerke Feuchtwangen and Schaumann Feuchtwangen are making an important contribution to the sustainable development of the region.
‘As a long-standing employer in Feuchtwangen, we see it as our responsibility to take not only economic but also ecological and social aspects into account in our corporate decisions,’ emphasises Bernhard Ebert, factory manager at Schaumann Feuchtwangen. ‘By concluding this PPA, we are sending a clear signal in favour of climate protection while at the same time strengthening our competitiveness through a reliable and environmentally friendly energy supply.’
‘For Feuchtwangen, our cooperation with Schaumann is a milestone in several respects,’ said Feuchtwangen's mayor Patrick Ruh. ‘With the construction of another ground-mounted PV system and the direct utilisation of the green electricity it generates, we are continuing our strategy of actively promoting the local energy transition.’ In addition, the PPA also enables the town to offer important location advantages to local industry.
‘Through this long-term agreement, we are providing the local industry with a reliable and stable supply of local, green electricity, thereby supporting our businesses in their future-oriented energy conversion,’ emphasised Mayor Ruh.
With this initiative, H. Wilhelm Schaumann GmbH is once again reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and regional ties. Together with Stadtwerke Feuchtwangen, the company will continue to actively work towards shaping the transition to a greener future.
