Secure grain conservation through the use of effective acid combinations

Hygienically flawless grain is a prerequisite for health and high performance in feeding. Safe grain conservation immediately after the harvest is therefore an essential measure for every successful farm.

Grain has a high natural germ population. Bacteria, yeasts and molds can multiply disproportionately due to increased water content during harvesting. The microbial metabolic processes increase the moisture content and temperature of the stored grain. This in turn accelerates spoilage. If grain with a high microbial load is fed, the effects range from a decline in performance to serious diseases in the animals. These negative effects can be efficiently contained by preserving grain with acids from the SCHAUMASIL product line (see Fig. 1 and video).

More safety and performance

The conservation of grain with acids reduces the contamination with bacteria, fungi and yeasts to below the detection limit (see Fig. 2). The harvested crop remains hygienically flawless for a longer period of time and retains valuable nutrients. Due to the improved palatability and the stimulation of digestive enzymes, feeding acid-preserved grain leads to higher daily weight gains compared to dried grain.

SCHAUMASIL SUPRA NK - for cereals and grain maize

SCHAUMASIL SUPRA NK is based on propionic acid buffered with NH3. This combination has been tried and tested for years and provides reliable and strong conservation performance. At the same time, the high-quality acid combination SCHAUMASIL SUPRA NK is not very corrosive. Due to the high evaporation rates, treatment of grain and CCM as well as grain maize is possible without any problems.

SCHAUMASIL EXTRA - also for organic farming

SCHAUMASIL EXTRA reliably prevents the development of yeasts and molds in stored grain, CCM and grain maize with a mixture of non-buffered organic acids. The high evaporation rate of the strong acid also makes it possible to conserve legumes. SCHAUMASIL EXTRA is listed in the list of inputs for organic farming and can therefore be used on any farm for the low-loss, hygienic and safe storage of the farm's own grain.

SCHAUMASIL 5.0 - the user-friendly alternative

The special formulation of SCHAUMASIL 5.0 ensures an unusually high pH value of 5. This makes SCHAUMASIL 5.0 user-friendly and gentle on the material, non-corrosive and has a low evaporation rate with excellent conservation performance in cereals and CCM. In contrast to other acid variants buffered with NH3, SCHAUMASIL 5.0 contains no nitrogen and therefore does not affect the N balance (see Fig. 3).
