Gilt rearing

Ideal growth curve during the gilt rearing

Gilts are the foundation for stable high performance in piglet production. Therfore a special diets and special compound feed is required.

• Gilts should not be raised under fattening conditions.
• The goals of a successful breeding gilts strategy is a long useful life and a high reproductive capacity.
• The assignment of the right age (at least 240 days of life, better 260-270) and weight ensures a long service life and high performance life.
• Adjusted diets provide an adequate and early development of fat and body reserves.

Gestation

In gestation it is important to replenish the body reserves of the sow again and grow as much as possible, viable piglets in the womb.

Important during gestation:

• Selectively feed on condition.
• Fat sows are having farrowing problems (MMA, fatty diarrhea in piglets, etc.).  Lean sows suckle from strong and rushing to increase.
• Use of special gestation mixtures with adjusted amounts of food in different stages of pregnancy.
• Protein supply (note the crude protein mixtures).
• Especially with the gestation swellable components provide rich and sows good defecation in the birth phase.
• Sufficient water supply.
• Optimal husbandry techniques with adequate exercise, proper ventilation and lighting.
• Optimal antenatal dosing of targeted food in late pregnancy or the additional use of a special birth lining.

Sows during birth and lactation

• Suckling max. 28 days.
• Special lactation diet, if possible also for primiparous sows, and different recipes for winter and summer.
• Observe the amino acid ratio.
• Prenatal diet or a top dressing product for fit to sow farrowing.
• To give birth additional water into the trough. It should always be fresh food and fresh water at optimum flow rate available. During the suckling period: increase the amount of food slowly. Sows are not allowed to  "clog"!
• At weaning: a lot of water and little lactation feed, followed by moderate feeding components with lactation, targeted promotion of estrus and fertility with special products.

Boars

For Rearing boars and Breeding boars the following standards should be applied:

• Sufficient space and movement in the rearing phase.
• High in protein and rich in mineral diets during the rearing lead to a good shape and stable foundations.
• Using a special mixture for breeding boars for optimum breeding condition and semen production even during intensive use of the broar.
• When using normal sow feed special top dressings should be applied  to achieve an optimum feed.
